The significance of exercise for the heart, in preventing cardiac disease.

Summary: Exercise is precious for overall health, including cardiac health. It not only strengthens the heart but in some cases can also revert heart attacks.


The Story: Irrespective of the Physical strength, age and health, it is observed that exercise can prevent heart ailments. As heart disease is the leading killer of both male and female.

Key area of concern for developing heart disease include high BPhigh cholesterol, and diabetes, and using tobacco. Although some people are born exposed to the cardiac disease as genetically predecessors to it, but that doesn't imply that it can't be prevented.

The preventive measures are discussed at length -

a) Fiborous diet- The AHA recommends having a few meals devoid of meat every week and enhancing the amount of fiber and grains in your diet. Due to the reason that most of the cholesterol-increasing diet comes from meat and dairy products. 

b) Weight observation- Gaining too much weight is a primary risk bearing to the heart, and it baffles majority of American citizens. As per the CDC, more than seventy percent of U.S. citizens are overweight, including nearly 43 percent who are obese.

c) Regular exercise- The AHA recommends doing at least two and a half hours of moderate-intensity exercise or 1.25 of hours of vigorous physical activity per week. Staying fit can ameliorate your heart health in number of ways, such as lower blood pressure, managing  weight, lower cholesterol, controlled blood sugar etc.

d) A Sound night sleep- Less sleep is linked to a number of risks for heart disease, including high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes, and heart fail, as well as a sleep disorder -sleep apneaPeople with sleep apnea go through multiple pause of breathing during sleep, resulting in lower-quality sleep and decreased oxygen supply to the blood. The body releases stress hormones, which over time can increase the risk of heart disease, according to the AHA.

e) Quit Smoking- Smoking is a major risk factor for heart disease, and when it  is combined with other risk factors, such as cholesterol, high BP, it further enhances the risk of heart disease. Smoking endangers the cells that line the arteries, increases blood clotting, and increases your blood pressure and heart rate.
